D1 Drifting, Ebisu Circuit, Japan,
31st August 2008 |
|
As the Japanese are the founders of drifting we thought it was about time we took a trip over to bring you some of the original D1 action. Breaking the J44 record for the furthest away event (previously it was the Hawaii Motorshow) we set off to the land of the rising sun for Round 6. The location was the Ebisu circuit which is based about two hours drive north of Tokyo. Ebisu is an incredidly hard place to find as its based up a mountain with no sign posts. In fact it shares its location with an animal safari park! Ebisu also hosts a total of five circuits including the monster drift track.....

Daikoko Futo Cruise, Yokohama, Japan,
30th August 2008 |
|
As part of our trip for the D1 drifting we decided to check out the local Japanese cruising scene. Searches on the internet directed us to a stunning motorway services down by Yokohama docks. The car park which features the obligatory McDonalds is located off a massive maze of down hill off slip roads! We turned up on Saturday night with nothing particular organised and still got a very impressive turnout. Impressive as the weather was wet. Temperatures were still around 30 degrees so it was like having a hot shower. This did not deter the mad hatter locals who got the sound systems, smoke machines and lasers on the go before cranking up the......

Need for Speed, Bishopscourt,
6th July 2008 |
|
Despite the adverse weather conditions on the day the Bishopscourt drag event run as always with a good southern contingent coming up to the strip to have a bit of fun and improve there times from events gone by. The fastest time of the way was Ken Wylies Evo with a run of 11.05 seconds down the quarter mile in the wet. This is surely a to second car in the dray, but that’s for another day. Ken took the honors on the day. There were numerous amounts of Honda civics and integras and accords among the skylines and Subaru’s that always turn up for the event. There was also a handling course organized by Scubby and money raised went to a worthwhile cause.....

Pro Drift, Nutts Corner, Antrim,
29th June 2008 |
|
The Irish Drifting circus rolled into town this weekend with the Pro IRL series coming up north for the first time since last years event at Nutts Corner. Unlike last year the weather shined down on us and on the Sunday it stayed dry for all the spectators to enjoy. The Saturday saw the amatures competing for a few places on the Sunday, and to have a go at the pro’s. We where glad to see two northern lads, Richard Bradley (username Fast Cav ) from this site and Dominic Mc Brideson, both big parts of the UDC Championship at bishops court, making it through to the Sunday.....

With ten thousand employees all working on just design it is an impressive operation. The event featured a drive of last years F1 car by Fernando Alonso as well as world famous stunt driver Terry Grant. Scoobyfest, Junction 1, Antrim,
15th June 2008 |
|
Sunday the 15th saw the Junction 1 carpark at Antrim taken over by ScoobyIreland.com for Scoobfest, the largest show this year so far in association with CarSport magazine, Junction 1 and the PSNI. The name suggests a Subaru only event, but everyone was welcome, and some stunning cars turned up. As the sun came out and the shops opened the crowds flocked in. Sunday shoppers wandered over to see what was going on, and where greated with an amazing display of subarus. The organisers placed them in groups of colours, and the car park looked fantastic......

Ultimate Car Show, Larne,
30th March 2008 |
|
The weekend’s event was the Ultimate car show in Larne. With a lot of talk about how good last years show was, this year had a lot to live up! Thankfully it didn’t disappoint with displays from most major websites and owners clubs on view for all to see. Everything from the new Subaru’s to some old Mk1 and 2 Ford Escorts and everything in-between were there in all their glory. With the weather holding up for most of the day and the sun out everyone was in good form enjoying the day and relaxing. The show organisers put on music and even some Irish dancing from the girls from the local area. Overall there.....

Bilsport Custom Show, Jonkoping, Sweden,
23rd March 2008 |
|
Following a long winter break the Jon44w.Com team are finally back in action bringing you the best modified car action from home and abroad. After the Passion Show in Belfast last week we travelled north of Europe up to Sweden for the famous Bilsport Custom Show. The exact location was in a place called Jonkoping which is around 2 hours north of Gothenburg and not far from the WRC location of Karlstad. The WRC a few years ago was the last time we were in Sweden and temperatures reached as low as minus 15 degrees! This time around it was not as bad but there was still plenty of snow and a low of minus 4 degrees. This did not put off......
